This is a set of two 12" x 18" large
font, full coloured posters.
These posters address some of the
more common questions surrounding hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
The first part of the poster asks
the following question:
- What is dialysis?
- Is there just one type of dialysis?
- What is hemodialysis?
- What is peritoneal dialysis?
The remainder of this set of posters
has three columns.
The first column is a common question
as it relates to dialysis. These questions are frequently asked
in a predialysis setting, office setting or when a person is considering
transferring from one type of dialysis to the other.
Each of the following questions is
accompanied by a simplistic graphic illustration.
- Where do I have dialysis?
- Will I have dialysis every day?
- Is there more than one type of
dialysis?
- Can I still travel?
- Can I still work when I am on
dialysis?
- Will I have to reduce how much
fluid I consume?
- Do I still need to be on a special
diet?
- Do I still need to take medications?
- Will I still need to have blood
tests?
- How will I feel on dialysis?
- What do I do while I am having
dialysis?
- Does dialysis do all of the jobs
that my kidneys would do?
- Do I need to have an operation
before starting dialysis?
The second column on this set of
posters is the response as it applies to hemodialysis and the final
column is the response as it applies to peritoneal dialysis.
The answers are in simplistic terms.
For example: 'Do I need to have
an operation before starting dialysis?'
Hemodialysis: Yes. You
will need to have an operation on your arm or a catheter inserted
into a blood vessel in your neck or under your collarbone.
Peritoneal dialysis: Yes.
You will need to have a peritoneal catheter inserted into your
abdomen before you start peritoneal dialysis.
The poster is laminated with a 5-mm
laminate to allow for easy cleaning.
It is appropriate for use by renal
professionals in a predialysis, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis,
clinic or office setting.
Larger or smaller posters are available
as a special order.
